Laura Edelson is a Ph.D. Candidate in Computer Science at NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering. Laura studies online political communication and develops methods to identify inauthentic content and activity. Her research has powered reporting on social media ad spending in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Atlantic. Prior to her current time in academia, Laura was a software engineer for Palantir and Factset. During her time in the industry, her work focused on applied machine learning and big data.

Joshua A. Tucker is a Professor of Politics, an affiliated Professor of Russian and Slavic Studies, and an affiliated Professor of Data Science at New York University. He is the Director of NYU’s Jordan Center for Advanced Study of Russia. He is one of the co-founders and co-Directors of the NYU Center for Social Media and Politics (CSMaP) and the Social Media and Political Participation (SMaPP) laboratory.

Iryna Lambrianides / Associate Director, NYC Media Lab, and an innovative leader in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors with a doctorate in Education and certification in project management (PMP). Skilled in planning and executing strategic and operational projects across multiple organizations, developing strategic goals and organization-wide business performance metrics, creating and improving processes, and building strong internal and external partnerships. Experienced in program monitoring and evaluation, research, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Skilled in translating raw data into insights and using that information for continuous improvement and achievement of strategic and tactical goals.

“Tweets spread on other platforms despite having labels on them,” Joshua Tucker, an NYU professor who is an expert in both Russian studies and social media and disinformation, said.
