The NYC Media Lab Team
media_lab@nyu.edu MEMBER HIGHLIGHT: ASCAP
American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), who have been members with the Media Lab since 2019, are currently implementing an innovative challenge with us called “Music in the Metaverse.” This challenge explores a range of concepts demonstrating inventive ways for artists to create music, engage with fans, and reconceptualize how we interact with sound in virtual worlds & online platforms.
As a not-for-profit organization, ASCAP’s mission is to ensure that its music creator and publisher members flourish with the businesses that use their music. They are a pioneer in performance royalties, service, and advocacy for songwriters and composers, and the only American performing rights organization both owned and governed by its writer and publisher members.
